Furnace Repairs in the East Bay Area

Your home’s furnace functions most efficiently when all of its moving parts are working properly. Furnaces are fairly complicated and include motors, fans, flame rectification systems, sensors, igniters, gas valves, controls, and bearings. When one of these parts fails, it can cause a domino effect of other part failures, which can lead to an eventual complete system failure. AIS Heating & Cooling has the training and experience to complete your furnace repair, including gas furnaces. Common furnace issues usually involve:

  • Clogged filters
  • Pilot light failure
  • Broken thermostats
  • Unusual sounds
  • Faulty burners
  • Blowers that won’t blow air
  • Blowers that won’t turn off

Furnace Installation or Replacement

If your furnace needs repairs and is nearing the end of its life span, it may be more cost-effective to have it replaced. Swapping your old furnace for a new, energy-efficient system can shave a significant amount off your monthly utility costs. The furnace experts at AIS can help you select the best system for your home and complete a high-quality furnace installation to improve your home’s comfort.

A furnace is an investment that, when maintained properly, can last for years. Furnaces that receive regular tune-ups operate more efficiently and are less likely to break down when you need them. AIS offers a range of budget-friendly maintenance plans to help make maintaining your furnace easy.

FAQs About Furnace Services

How much does it cost to service a furnace?

Furnace maintenance is one of the most affordable heating services available. Exact costs will depend on what kind of furnace you have, but you can usually get the best price if you sign up for a maintenance plan.

How often should you service your furnace?

Your furnace should be serviced a minimum of once per year, but it’s better to have it serviced in both the spring and the fall.

What does a furnace service include?

During your maintenance service, your technician will:

  • Check the vent system and air intake grilles and remove blockages
  • Inspect the heat exchanger for signs of corrosion or damage
  • Examine and clean the blower
  • Test the blower motor
  • Inspect the electrical connections, tighten or replace damaged wiring (if needed)
  • Check the burner and flame sensor
  • Examine belts for damage or cracks
  • Inspect the thermostat and calibrate it (if needed)
  • Lubricate the system’s moving parts
  • Clean or replace the air filter
  • Test the system’s safety controls and startup cycle

For oil or gas furnaces, these additional steps will be taken:

  • Check the fuel lines for leaks
  • Test gas pressure, burner, and pilot
  • Inspect the thermocouple

How do you service a furnace?

Homeowners should change their furnace filters every two to three months. Outside of that, furnace services should only be performed by a trained professional, to ensure you and your family’s safety.

How long does a furnace cleaning take?

Your furnace maintenance call will last between one to two hours, depending on the needs of your system.
